"What do you want to chase that crazy man away for?" the wife said. "Every morning he comes to people's houses; why doesn't he go to the jails instead?"
"My dear wife, before I die, let me ask you not to hate Chizi so much," the husband replied. "I don't want him to stay idling here every morning."
"If you love him that much it might be because he's hungry. Let me give him some tea to drink," she said. "I don't understand you. Is this Chizi your relative?"
"No, you know even my youngest father is a bit crazy, so I know how to live with these people. Some of them become spies," the husband explained.
"In the past things were different, but now, if a tactic is discovered, it can't continue being used. So stop those thoughts."
"Okay, I'll give him tea, but that cup mustn't go back inside."
She took the tea and went outside to hand it to Chizi. Surprisingly, he accepted the tea and said, "A little sugar, please add sugar."
She went inside to get sugar. Meanwhile, the husband came upstairs.
"Sugar again? Why?"
"My husband said a little sugar."
"A hungry person can't have a salty mouth. Let him drink it as it is; he knows the price of sugar. "
"That's not good. Let me give him sugar. He is our relative and deserves to taste the food."
"Alright, if you want to find it, bring it to him."
The wife wanted to listen to her husband, scooped some sugar, and went outside. When she arrived, she found Chizi had already drunk all the tea. He said, "Please, another tea so you can add that sugar. This one is cold; I drank it like water."
At that moment, the wife feared this would cause conflict with her husband and asked Chizi, "Do you have money?"
"Yes."
"Hold this one thousand shillings and go drink tea at Mama Ntilie's. Take that cup to put it there."
Chizi took the money and said, "I'm not going to Mama Ntilie. I'll wait for you to make another tea for me to drink."
Seeing the stubbornness, the wife said, "My husband is strict. Go; tomorrow I'll make you lots of tea."
"I'll go sit under the tree, waiting for your husband to leave and give me hot tea with lots of sugar."
Though surprised, the wife thought it was better because he left the idling place. Chizi sat under a tree, speaking to himself. The wife went back inside.
"I see you went to care for your young father."
"What words again, my husband?"
"Didn’t you say your young father is crazy? You know how to take care of crazy ones. Didn't you see that man as your father?"
"Yes."
"Alright, I’ll prepare water to bathe and then go to work."
The wife prepared many things for him. He bathed properly, then went out to his vehicle and looked under the tree where Chizi was. Chizi left, stood up, and went to someone's wife’s house.
"Knock, knock."
"Wait for me; I’m coming."
The wife opened the door. Chizi said, "He has left; give me tea now."
"Wait outside here."
The wife went inside. Chizi entered and said, "I want to drink tea inside with lots of sugar."
The wife was amazed but since he came in, she thought it better he stay near the car parking and not enter fully.
"Wait here."
"Okay."
The wife went inside to boil tea. She was surprised to see Chizi sweeping the parking area. Because the wife was lazy, she felt relieved to see him cleaning well. After cleaning, he sat down. The wife came out with tea and much sugar for him to add himself.
She gave him strange tea and spilled some, saying, "Do you know what I mean?"
"Don’t you want tea? I gave you some, but you spilled the sugar."
"I don’t want that sugar; I want this sugar."
The wife was shocked. Chizi touched her in front and wanted that sugar. She got confused, wondering whether to throw him out. While pondering, she heard a horn honking outside the gate.
Chizi didn’t flinch. Hearing the horn, he opened his zipper and said, "I’m taking a spoon to stir your sugar. Please, then take off those clothes so I can get the sugar myself."
